The 916th Air Refueling Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the 307th Air Refueling Group, stationed at Travis AFB, California. It was inactivated on 31 December 1983
Established on 1 September 1959 by Strategic Air Command at Travis AFB and equipped with KC-135 Stratotankers. Mission was to provide air refueling to the B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers of its parent 5th Bombardment Wing and other USAF units as directed.
Reassigned to the SAC 47th Air Division in 1968 when the 5th BMW moved to Minot AFB, North Dakota; assigned to the 307th Air Refueling Group in 1977. Inactivated on 31 Dec 1983 with the 307th ARG when SAC pulled out of Travis due to a force structure realignment.
